Shooting interiors is a joy for many reasons.
It is a truly fascinating process following the ebb and flow of a home or workplace. As you move through the space, you can learn the thought process and discover the artistry of a particular designer who has taken a brief, been given a blank canvas and has created a living breathing piece of art that represents their client. Its business.
If, however, the client has taken the task fully into their own hands, it then becomes personal. A complete character study of that person. Of one who has not only learned the skills to renovate/rebuild their environment with their own hands (a feat in itself), but has single handedly surrounded themselves with specific colours, materials and adornments. The result: not only a comfortable and trusted environment but a reflection of who they are, how they feel about themselves, and what they want to project to those who visit.
Our goal, as artists, is to translate the thoughts, the shapes, the feels and all that has conspired before us, and create images that reflect the emotion and atmosphere of that environment…….
……and then, the finishing touch, is taking that individual and capturing them in their space.
A character study within their own character study.
